PICO Space Update!


After a few months in the wild with the initial release I've made some changes - hopefully improvements.

The game seemed a bit too tricky for most people, especially with the speed that the weevils fly about, so I've slowed them down. I also made their shots hurt the ship a bit less.

The explosions have been improved and I've added screen shake for when they happen, the ship gets hit or the hyperjump drive is used. I added screen shake for the 'big' version of this game that I'm currently working on and it's made this version seem a bit flat without it. I didn't think I'd be able to squeeze another feature in, but with a bit of hacking I've come up with a _very_ basic implementation. Squeezing the game down to fit within PICO-8's limits is getting more and more difficult though. I have to use a minifier, then do many find/replaces now and I'm beginning to run out of ways I can think of to make it small enough.

Anyway - I hope people like the update and I'll get back to making its much bigger brother.
